Weird Weather Happenings in Wyoming History:
07 Apr 1994, 1600 MST
Lightning struck a pastor while riding a horse near Newcastle. The horse was killed and the man hospitalized due to burns and a fractured eardrum. (I feel sorry for the horse, but come on if Lightning strikes a religious man, there's gotta be a good reason eh?)

11 Jul 1994, Lightning struck a truck's antenna at a fire site near Saratoga. The bolt traveled from the truck to the ground and over to another truck where a sheriff's deputy was sitting slightly injuring the man. (There's a bbq'd pig joke in there somewhere lol)

08 Jun 1996, 03:00:00 PM MST Lightning caused damage in the Cheyenne area. Lightning knocked a chimney off of a house and split a tree, both in Cheyenne.

14 Jun 1998, 04:06:00 PM MST A motorcycle rider was hit by lightning as he was riding west on Interstate 80. He was struck in the back of the neck and the strike caused him to lose control of his mototcycle and crash into the median. The motorcyclist recieved a ruptured eardrum and burns to his eyes, chest and shoulder. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and released. (Didn't I tell you riding a motorcycle was dangerous!)

16 Jun 2003, 02:00:00 PM MST Lightning struck two hikers twice. After the first strike, they awaited for the storm to pass. They were then struck a second time as they waited.
(Hmm I'd start going to church after that!)

24 Jul 1994, 1645 MST A super-cell developed in southeastern Goshen County early in the evening of the 17th and moved south across extreme eastern Laramie County. Large hail and damaging winds were observed with the storm which broke out all the windows on the north side of a home north of Pine Bluffs. Hail up to the size of baseballs produced significant damage to a mobile home park east of Pine Bluffs. Winds from the storm blew down several power poles in Albin cutting off power there. (Mother nature truly hates Mobile homes)

01 Feb 1996, Low temperatures dropped to between 10 below zero and 45 below zero during this time across the state. On the 1st, strong winds lowered wind chill temperatures to as low as 60 below zero in some locations. Some young livestock were frozen. The cold also froze many pipes and caused some water lines to break or leak. A number of schools and events were cancelled across the state during this time. About 40 residences were without natural gas in the Big Horn Basin on the 3rd due to the cold causing a valve malfunction. Many accidents occurred on the 1st due to poor visibilities. One person froze to death just north of Buffalo early on the 2nd after walking for help after his car broke down. (Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!)

29 Jan 2008, 13:00:00 Some wind gusts around 75 mph recorded near Buford, WY with an unofficial gust of 87 mph recorded 2 miles southeast of Interstate 80 mile marker 348.High winds blew across portions of southeast Wyoming with the worst conditions along Interstate 80 from near Walcott Junction to near Arlington, where ground blizzard conditions resulted in near zero visibilities in some spots and necessitated the closure of roads in that area for a time. (that just blows me away!)

Now if you like weather as much as I do, you'll love this.....
