Just say no or you'll get a spanking
Sooooo, I finally get out to run some errands I've been putting off for a few days.
I'm waiting across the street for the bus which I guess is running late because I've been waiting for 10 min, not a bad wait unless it's -17 degree windchill. I'm really thinking about going back inside, My chin and nose are going numb and the cold wind is blowing right through my jeans.
I take one last look to see if my bus is coming. I had been facing the opposite way out of necessity because of the wind. As I'm looking up this major street I see this car coming in my direction it looks like the driver is waving her free hand frantically, she slows down and stops several yards in front of me. By this time I can see she is an elderly woman(80+years) with a frantic look on her face and she is aggressively pointing at/into the passenger seat. I approach the car and can't see inside her passenger window, thinking she's in trouble I open the car door and she starts yelling (scolding me) "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!! GET IN THIS CAR RIGHT NOW!! DON'T YOU KNOW BETTER??? YOU ARE GOING TO FREEZE YOUR LUNGS!! GET IN THIS CAR NOW!
Wow, I felt like I had disappointed my Mother, so I did what she told me and got in.
She continues to scold me but in a lower tone this time telling me I should know better and what am I doing hitchhiking in this kind of weather (btw it was a beautiful day just fricken cold and windy) She asks me where I'm going I tell her and she says I'm never ever to go out in this weather again!!! Next time you call me If you want to go somewhere, I'll pick you up.You should not be hitchhiking in this weather or any weather." I thank her for her kindness and let her know that I was actually waiting for a bus (we don't have actual bus stops here, we just wave at the bus as it goes by if we want a ride)
BUT now that she has picked me up, I am NOW, technically hitchhiking!!!!
Her response....
" I tell ya, I buy you books, I buy you books and all you do is eat the pages!!!!" LMAO this woman was adorable! She tells me she is on her way to have lunch and inquires if I've been well fed lately, visually it's clear that I am but I let her know I'm still full from breakfast.
We get to my location and she makes me promise that I will never go out when it's this cold outside and that I will wait inside the store until the bus comes to pick me up.
LMAO I LOVE WYOMING!!!
