Don't let this article fool you. The 10,000 people that moved here last year were sent to replace the 9,993 people that froze to death in our 9 month long winter. As soon as they defrost we will be able to subtract them from the total.

Wyoming ranks 9th for population growth

Associated Press - December 27, 2007 9:45 AM ET

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - New census estimates show that Wyoming's population increased by more than 10,000 people from July 2006 to July 2007.

Ten thousand people is roughly the size of the city of Riverton.

The census data show that Wyoming's population grew by 2%. That's the ninth fastest rate of growth nationwide and about even with the growth rate in Colorado.

But Wyoming remains the least populated state, with a population of around 523,000.

Nevada, Arizona and Utah are the fastest-growing states with population increases between 2.5 and 3% over the yearlong period
